Part of the Greater Kelowna metropolitan area, Shannon Lake is a neighbourhood within West Kelowna, British Columbia.

Transportation

The favoured approach to navigate Shannon Lake is very often driving. It is especially convenient to park, and most homes for sale are a reasonably short drive from the closest highway. However, Shannon Lake is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and the closest bus stop is generally very close. Travelling on foot is not very practical for residents in Shannon Lake as very few daily errands can be run without needing to use a vehicle. This neighbourhood is also not especially conducive to cycling as there are few bike lanes, and riding is made strenuous by the typically steep area.

Services

In all but a very small number of cases, a car is needed to buy groceries. There are also a few choices for those who appreciate restaurants within walking distance. With respect to education, primary schools are convenient to reach on foot from most houses for sale in this part of West Kelowna. In contrast, there are no high schools in this neighbourhood.

Character

Shannon Lake offers a slower-paced ambience and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time outdoors. Public green spaces, like Davidson Creek and Kinsmen Park, are very well-located and there are around 10 of them nearby for residents to discover, which makes it easy to reach them. This part of West Kelowna is also excellent for those who enjoy quiet surroundings, as the streets are generally very peaceful.

Housing

In Shannon Lake, roughly 60% of buildings are single detached homes, whereas the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings. A majority of the housing growth in this part of the municipality has happened after the year 2000. This area offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Around 90% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and the rest are renters.
