The neighbourhood of Kilbride can be found in the city of St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, which is located in the Greater St. John's metropolitan area.

Transportation

Kilbride is especially car friendly. It is a short drive to the nearest highway, such as I2:6:31 Highway, from anywhere in Kilbride, and it is very convenient to park. However, the public transit system in this area is not very practical. Thankfully, house owners benefit from a few bus lines, and it is very convenient to get to a nearby bus stop from most residences. Commuting by bicycle is difficult in Kilbride since cyclists encounter a considerable amount of slopes, and there are very few bike lanes. A majority of the houses for sale in this neighbourhood are located in areas that are also not very convenient for those who travel by foot as very few daily needs can be met without the use of a car.

Services

There are no high schools and no primary schools in Kilbride. Additionally, daycares are not particularly plentiful and thus not always within walking distance. As far as food is concerned, in all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is needed to do groceries. There are a few opportunities for those who value restaurants and cafes in close proximity.

Character

Kilbride is a wonderful neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a relaxed atmosphere. Kilbride is very quiet overall, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue.

Housing

Around 70% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 30% are rented. Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing roughly 45% of dwellings in this area, and the remainder are mainly duplexes. About 40% of properties in this part of St. John's were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1980s and the 1990s. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
