Transportation

Driving is usually the preferred way to get around in this part of Halifax. Accessing a place to park is quite easy. Dean is not very suitable for walking as almost no daily errands can be run without needing to use a vehicle. This area is also not very appropriate for biking as there are a fair number of elevation changes for cyclists to brave, and the cycling network is not very comprehensive.

Services

It is very rarely feasible for house buyers in Dean to buy their groceries on foot. In terms of education, there are no high schools and no primary schools in this area.

Character

Dean offers a relaxed environment. Most areas in Dean are very quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Parks aren't well-distributed, which makes it very hard to access them.

Housing

The homes in this area are quite old, since around 45% of its dwellings were constructed before the 1960s, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1990s. The large percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of this community is an important part of its character. Homeowners occupy nearly 95% of the units in Dean whereas renters occupy the remainder. This community also has quite a good variety of housing sizes; this area is particularly good for those looking for three bedroom homes.
