Shaver

The neighbourhood of Shaver can be found in the city of Hamilton, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area.

Transportation

This area is an extremely good part of Hamilton for getting around by car. Coming across a place to park is easy, and it is a very short drive to the nearest highway, such as Highway 403, from any home in this neighbourhood. However, the public transit service in Shaver is not very frequent. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is usually very close. It is inconvenient for pedestrians to navigate Shaver as carrying out day-to-day needs is challenging by walking. Despite the fact that certain bike-friendly sectors can be found, cycling is also occasionally difficult in Shaver since the bicycling network is not very extensive, and riding is rendered arduous by the typically sloping topography.

Services

Families will appreciate that no matter where their house is located in this area, primary schools are close by. On the other hand, high schools are not particularly abundant and thus may require a rather long walk to get to. Families can choose between public and private high schools. When it comes to eating, reaching the closest grocery store by walking is possible for some, but not all, home buyers in this neighbourhood. There are also a few choices for those who appreciate nearby restaurants.

Character

There is a wide variety of green spaces in Shaver. It is easy to get to parks in the neighbourhood since there are a few of them nearby for residents to explore. Finally, as there are very few people out and about on the streets, this part of the city is relatively quiet.

Housing

About 90% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 10% are rented. In this area, around half of buildings are single detached homes, and the remaining properties are mainly duplexes. A majority of the housing growth in this neighbourhood has taken place after the year 2000. This part of Hamilton is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
