Hillcrest Village is also reasonably well-suited for walking; many day-to-day needs can be met on foot. This part of Toronto is quite bicycling-friendly.

In addition to public schools, there are private primary and high schools. Regarding food, the nearest grocery store in Hillcrest Village is usually only a short walk away. Character

Hillcrest Village offers a relaxed ambience and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. The greenery in this area is very prominent as the majority of streets have very good tree coverage. Parks, including North York Hydro Green Space, are very well-located and there are about 10 of them nearby for residents to relax in, resulting in them being very easy to access from many locations within the neighbourhood. This area is also quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although there are still several noisier sections, especially close to Highway 404.

Housing

In Hillcrest Village, about 30% of dwellings are large apartment buildings, while small apartment buildings, single detached homes, and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. This part of the city experienced its biggest construction boom between 1960 and 1980, so most of the available housing is from this era. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy around three quarters of the properties in the neighbourhood and the rest are rented.
