Halpern

The neighbourhood of Halpern is part of the city of Montréal, Quebec, which is situated in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

Halpern is an extremely good part of Montréal for getting around by car. Many properties for sale are a very short drive from the nearest highway, such as Autoroute Félix-Leclerc, and it is very convenient to access a place to park. However, the public transit system in Halpern is somewhat poor. Nevertheless, homeowners benefit from a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most properties. Even though some pleasant pockets for cycling exist, and there are a limited number of hills, Halpern is not especially cycling-friendly since the bicycling infrastructure is not very extensive. It is also impractical for people walking to move around in Halpern because very few daily needs can be met on foot.

Services

In Halpern, families will usually be able to access daycares by walking. In contrast, there are no primary schools and no high schools in Halpern. With respect to food, property owners in this neighbourhood almost always have to rely on a vehicle to travel to the nearest grocery store. Conversely, it is easy to walk to the closest cafe, and there are a few opportunities for those who appreciate close by restaurants.

Character

There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Halpern. To be more specific, although this part of the city is not home to any green spaces, parks are very well-spread out in nearby neighbourhoods, which results in them being easy to get to from the majority of locations in the neighbourhood. However, few tree-lined streets are present. This part of the city is a wonderful neighbourhood for those who don't mind a bit of noise, as traffic during rush hour can occasionally be loud.

Housing

In Halpern, about 40% of dwellings are single detached homes, while townhouses make up most of the remaining housing stock. Around one third of properties in this neighbourhood were built following the year 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. This part of Montréal offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Nearly 90% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home whereas the rest are renters.
