South Poplar

South Poplar is a neighbourhood within Abbotsford, British Columbia, which is located in the Abbotsford - Mission metropolitan area.

Transportation

South Poplar is especially car friendly. Nearby highways, such as Trans-Canada Highway, are very easy to access from any location in this area, and it is especially convenient to come across a parking spot. However, the public transit network in this neighbourhood is not very practical. Nonetheless, property owners benefit from a few bus lines, and most residences are very close to a bus stop. This part of the city is not especially cycling-friendly because there are a good number of elevation changes for cyclists to brave, and the bicycling infrastructure is not very comprehensive. Walking is also not very common in South Poplar, although carrying out daily needs is easy.

Services

Property owners in this part of the city almost always have to use a vehicle to reach the closest supermarket. Nonetheless, getting to the nearest pharmacy and consequently some basic food items is generally easy. Property owners are served by a few cafes as well. With regards to education, it is a reasonably short walk to reach both primary and secondary schools from most houses for sale in South Poplar. On the other hand, daycares are not very abundant and thus not always within walking distance.

Character

The character of South Poplar is exemplified by its relaxed environment. Most areas in this part of the city are very quiet, as the streets are very calm closer to Trans-Canada Highway. Finally, it is easy to get to parks in the neighbourhood, since many homes have one nearby and there are a few green spaces close by for residents to visit.

Housing

Roughly 70% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and the rest are renters. In this area, the majority of buildings are single detached homes, while duplexes are also present in the housing stock. About one quarter of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed following the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This area is primarily composed of two bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
