Transportation

UDistrict is especially car friendly. Many properties for sale are a very short car ride from the closest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, and it is convenient to access a parking spot. In contrast, residents using public transit may find few choices in this area by reason of the low service level. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and the closest bus stop is generally just around the corner. Biking is sometimes difficult in UDistrict because the bicycling network is somewhat poor, and there are quite a few elevation changes. Nevertheless, biking is reasonably commonplace. Travelling by foot is also not very popular in UDistrict, even though many common errands can be run on foot.

Services

A portion of home buyers in this part of Abbotsford may be able to reach the nearest supermarket on foot, while others will have to rely on another means of transportation. However, a cafe is often just around the corner, and there are also a few restaurants in UDistrict. It is also a reasonably short distance to a good variety of clothing stores. As far as education is concerned, schools and daycares are very easy to access on foot from any location in this neighbourhood. Residents are served by public and private elementary schools.

Character

The character of UDistrict is exemplified by its calm environment. There are a few green spaces close by for residents to relax in and they are very well-distributed, making it easy to reach them from most locations within the neighbourhood. This part of Abbotsford is quiet overall, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case around Trans-Canada Highway.

Housing

In UDistrict, around half of dwellings are small apartment buildings, and the rest of the properties are mainly duplexes and single detached homes. This part of the city has a good choice of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. About two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and the rest are renters. This part of Abbotsford did not experience a single building boom; the construction of new homes in UDistrict was spread throughout several decades in recent history.
